Someone To Eat Bread With

by Alan McGuire

Compañeros, Compañeras
Sit down here
Vino o agua

Break bread with me
Flakes and crumbs fall
Leave them
We'll clean them up after

Compañeras
Remember who grows
the wheat.
They who don't sing
while they bake.

Kneed the dough
Add the grease for
no surprises.
Twenty five minutes
No Instagram photos

Compañeros
Blessings have no
reason, but action does.
There is no reason for
crumbs.
